Airbag Replacement costs??

Hey guys. I was wondering how much it is gonna cost me to replace my airbags on my 2000 Malibu LS? I hit a low curb with the front end at about 20 MPH and the stupid aribags decided they needed to go off. the bottom of the car, next to the front wheels took the damage. The front fascia is not damaged at all. Besides the airbags going off, the only thing that seems to be wrong is that it vibrates a bit more when idling. The whole thing was completely my fault, but it still seems odd that the airbags would go off in that circumstance. Any idea on the costs im gonna be incurring for the airbag replacement???

I have replaced quite a few airbags. They basically just bolt in. You can usually replace both in less than an hour. BUT they have to be reprogrammed. That sometimes can be much more costly than the actual airbags themselves. You can get the bags at a decent price off eBay. You may also need the impact sensor, airbag module and if the Malibus have them, an inertia sensor.The dealer is gonna want probably a few grand. shop around. See if you can find a honest place that knows what they are doing and tell you exactly what parts you need to replace. Buy the parts your self and find someone who knows how to reprogram them. If you decide that it is too expensive you can buy dummies. They look like airbags but they are just covers to replace the hole in the steering wheel and dash.
