'92 Sierra c/k 1500 won't prime - help!
I have a '92 4x4 c/k 1500 that won't prime the fuel injectors and thus won't start. I can start it by spraying w/ether and it will run fine after that.....fuel pump is getting power and is good. Fuel pump relay is getting power and is good.....It's getting power through the whole system and the on-board computer has been replaced. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, my 92 k1500 suburban runs fine when warmed up but refuses to start without help. If I pour an ounce of fuel down the throttle body it starts right up. It also runs very rough when cold but I just drove it from nashville to cin over the weekend and it ran like a top. Also the fuel regulator and pump have been changed.

Does the pump run for 2-3 seconds when the key is turned on? Manual says to test, have A/C off then key on.
If it doesn't, then it isn't primed. Long cranking will bring oil pressure up to above 4 lbs then the oil pressure switch will kick in with voltage to the pump. If the relay points are bad, or the relay is not energizing for some reason, the oil pressure switch has a parallel path to the pump. |

I'm having same problem with my 97 sierra.
I'm convinced its the pump at fault. I'll be trying the pump probably tommorrow, and I'll update wether or not that cured it. What I'm seeing on mine is, the pump allows the line to bleed down over night, then even after purging the air from the line it does not reach full pressure until the pump has warmed up. Also even when the pump warms up and reaches decent pressure it does not seem to put out the volume it would need for cold starting etc... Let me know if you have discovered anything different on yours, and I'll let you know what happens on mine. Thanks, Nick |

Turns out I had a bad ignition module. I had replaced it but apparently got a bad part......works great now.
Thanks! |

your ignition mod. is wired into your injectors so that if your ignition fails you won't be pumping a bunch of unburnt fuel into your engine witch could cause big problems if suddenly ignited
