Re: Jetta vs. RX-8

RX8 all the way, mainly because of that beatifully ballanced chassis.

Re: Jetta vs. RX-8

As nice as the 1.8T is, I'm gonna have to go with the RX-8. Also, I'm pretty sure the RX-8's back seats have more leg room, even though it's a coupe.

umm is silly putting "other" option in comparo... the reasons are quite obvious

Re: Jetta vs. RX-8

kind of an odd comparison but i'd probaby go for the rx-8. the jetta is too much of a "chick" car for my tastes (sorry if that offends any male jetta owners, but it's true at least where i live all i ever see driving jettas are girls)

jcsaleen makes a good point though.

if i was to keep the car stock i would choose the rx-8 hands down. but if i was to mod it, it would be the jetta.

Well... The only version of the RX8 I would personally ever buy would be the 6-speed manual costs just about $27,000. The best trim level of the Jetta right now is the GLi 1.8t (basically GLi is to Jetta as GTi is to Golf) which costs about $24,000. So theres about a $3,000 difference there. The VW starts with more torque then the Mazda (159 ft-lbs vs. 173 ft-lbs) but less power (180hp vs 238hp). Both cars are 6-speeds, the Mazda is RWD, the GLi is FWD. So stock v. stock, the Mazda is the better car ignoring price.

Now, watch as I spend that $3,000 saved buying the GLi...

Neuspeed Chip: +40 to 43 bhp (serious) cost: $350
Neuspeed P-Flo intake: +5 to 8 bhp cost: $250
Neuspeed Pulley: +5 to 7 bhp cost: $300
Neuspeed Intercooler: good to have w/ chip cost: $1000
KONI Coilover kit: significantly stiffer suspention cost: $1000
total: less then the 6-speed RX8

Theres countless combinations you could go with that would easily make the GLi 1.8t faster then the RX8 for less.

Conclusion:
Stock v. Stock (no price consideration): RX8 wins
Modified v. Stock (price considered): GLi Wins

Re: Jetta vs. RX-8

it also costs £14,000 more than the RX-8.
or if you like, it costs a renault clio 182 more than the RX-8......

it's not dumb to make another suggestion.
it's just dumb to make a stupid one.

Re: Re: Jetta vs. RX-8

Im talking about the old S4 not the new and here in america its alot cheaper. 14000 pounds so thats around 25 k difference lol not here in the states the rx8 is 33k starting that what my friend paid and all he did was get the spoiler as an extra the s4 old model is certainly less then 32k used go for 17-19.
