upgrades to t-bird

I have a 91 T-Bird SC. can i swap in a 5.0? Will it bolt right up or what would it involve? How much HP will the tranny handle (manual)? Any stronger manual tranny's that will slide right in? Any help would be great!

Re: upgrades to t-bird

thats a big project. Its not as simple as an engine swap, the "brains of the car" would have to be changed as well. I dont know much but ive asked somebody the same question before, and it took him 10 seconds to change my mind. Im sure these other guys can tell you more about it. But in my opinion, Id prefer to beef up the supercharged 3.8 anyways. just my opinion, I know a lot of people dont agree.

unless you start with a 5.0 car, stay with the sc and build it. you can easily get 400-450hp with comparible torque out of it. of course is still depends on how much you want to spend.
