350z disaster

I couldnt hate this piece more it has to be one of the worst ive ever done. I did this one way back before the 350z was realeased and the fast and the furious was still cool.
i saw a pic of the car and thought to myself hey that things just asking to be a tuner the concept was a pretty good idea but i failed to make it a good piece. so i am to blame for this bad rendering.
The only reason i haven't tossed this one out is because it took me over a week to complete.

Just thought id put something bad out there to remind everyone that you cant always get what you want.

its done in oil pastel and colored pencil.

Re: 350z disaster

It's alright, like you said it's not the greatest. But It definently doesn't all out suck. So, the only this I would really work on is the background...

^ Leaning backwards? Or the fronts leaning forward, I can't deside. Apart from the b/g, I quite like the rendering, and Oil pastel isn't very easy to render detailed drawings with. Seeing your viper though you one hell of a drawer.

Looks good, just the tuning aspect of it is what isn't good, I think.

Re: 350z disaster

yeah its mainly the rear wheel that really bothers me I think i made a mistake in the outline process or i just didnt take a step back when i was rendering it. also the reflection isnt clean enough.

roof scoop ha! what the hell was i thinking.

Re: 350z disaster

I could admit that I liked the movie when it was out, still kinda like it. I mean theres nothing really wrong with the movie, except some stuff on the cars.

Re: 350z disaster

I think that's a good looking drawing overall. Except for the wheel angle in the back and the front bumper angle everything else looks proportionate. And I like that color combination, too.

As for TFATF, the concept of the movie was the ONLY good thing, the execution could've used a little less "Hollywood" and a lot more "real world" performance. The original was better than the cartoonish 2F2F though.

Re: 350z disaster

I like the drawing...TFATF lacked the greatness of auto classics like The Wraith (Filmed here in Tucson holla!!...any film that has a guy drinking battery acid and driving a pile of a Cuda and a concept Dodge in it achieves instant classic status...IMHO)

lolol

seriously back to your drawing. The thing with the back tire is that it appears to be on a different plane than the front. It's lower. The rim isn't as deep. I know foreshortning and perspective play a role but it appears to fall off quick.

Now...your handling of such a tough medium should be applauded. It's really hard to get as clean a look as you have with pastels. Did you use any frisket or other masking material? Did you spray fix between layers? What's the actual size of this drawing? Have you ever thought about using a large marker base on something lke canson paper?

Let it soak in good your colored pencil outline will stop the spread then go over with pastels and do details with colored pencil. When you put that color over that flat marker on colored paper you don't have to use much color at all and your drawing will emerge like magic.

You can pick up white transfer paper from the art store and transfer your lineart to black paper and go to town.
Welcome to AF, your work is very good.

The only thing about F&F is the cars, yes it does lack alot of realism but what you gonna do.
