2000 Impala LS Radio

I need to know if there is some way to replace the factory installed radio. I had someone try and all was fine until my oil change light came on,then I had low air in one tire and the light came on and I could not reset them. It was driving me crazy so I put the factory radio back. Is there some way to bypass these problem. I really loved the sound that the new radio was pumping and I had more contol over my subs. It looked way better too!

ok...i'm some what confused...you have a factory cd player in it, and replaced it with a factory cd player, or did you have an aftermarket radio in it??? Please clarify...

Sorry about that, What I have is the factory installed radio with a cassett and cd player built in. What I had done was to replace this with a kenwood radio with cd player which worked better with my subs. My problems began when I could not reset my oil change light or any of the many functions intergrated into the factory radio. That's when I put the factory unit back in. What I want to know is if I can get around this problem so that I can put the aftermarket kenwood radio back in?

i have the same problem...the guy at the dealership told me the only way to keep everything functioning is to relocate the factory radio elsewhere cutting and splicing the wiring harness...i decided to put all my stereo effort in my truck...hope this may help you

Thanks buddy. I wonder . . .can it be done from the rear where the factory amp is installed. All the wires run from the radio to the amp.

I have no idea...once i heard i had to retain the factory radio,I didn't look any further into it,because no matter how good of an install you've got,it sort of defeats the purpose when you pop the trunk to flash your 4-12's and the only thing people tend to see is the factory radio hanging under the rear deck...judges will really give you a big score for 2 stereo's(yeah right)...but that's just me. If you really don't care and want to move it,get yourself a wiring diagram to see if all the wires you need are back there,if so,go to a salvage yard and cut wiring harness from a junker impala(so you can retain the one in the dash for if you ever decide to replace the factory unit) and start splicing into the wires,if the ones you need are there.GOOD LUCK!!!

You know what! I think I'll just leave it alone. Maybe I can put an equilizer in to fine tune the sound? What you think?

if call crutchfield or go to any car stereo shop, they can sell u a radio relocation harness kit so u can relocate ur factory radio to ur trunk and install ur kenwood in the front

Might be a repost, but go to www.impalahq.com and look under the radio section in the how-to. It will tell you how to reset the oil light as well as tire monitor without the factory radio installed.
