Re: Racing GTO
Now why would anyone want to spoil the subtle lines and clean look with all that ricer crap? If you want a second-rate muscle car, just buy the damn Honda... Of course, if you have wind tunnel data to support the use of such wierd looking stuff, I'm open to new ideas!

Re: Racing GTO
Pontiac Corporate is after the ricer "Tuner" market but doing it with a real engine...... After reading quite a few promotional articles and statements from corporate at different shows they want the tuner market.

I saw this coming at least a year ago. I knew the GTO had the numbers to run with the likes of the Porsche GT3's and BMW M3's in the Grand Am Cup series. So listen up good:
If the GTO.R does well in the G.A.C. series, (here it is) Pontiac will release a special edition of the GTO with more power and stlying cues based on this Grand Am GTO.R. It may include: -at least 19" racing wheels -body kit -smaller, yet still functional spoiler -more power (500+) -special badge in place of the "GTO" badge on side that may simply say "R" -racing seats -somewhat gutted interior -significant weight reduction (extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum) -intake/ exhaust upgrade -suspention upgrade for track use -hood clips -hood scoops standard -mabey even a limited edition color (perhaps the same orange as the racer) Thats all I can think of. But just you wait, It could very well happen with many of the features listed above. But I would think it would cost between the M3 CSL and Porsche GT3. So about $65,000 is my guess. Pontiac should do this carfully, as in it should have road manners, yet is track happy.

I hope the new GTO does well in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series.
http://www.grandamerican.com/ I doubt they will make a special GTO due to the fact that GM will have the 505 hp Corvette Z06 by this fall. Last edited by Jaguar D-Type; 06-27-2005 at 03:47 PM. |
