2005 WRX STI w/ AUTO tranny?

The '05 STI is a 6-speed manual.

i think hes talking about the DCCD. driver controlled center differential available in the STi model.

and as far as i know....subaru's arent available with a 4matic configuration. i know a few DSM's have it as well as some of the mercedes models.

It allows you to actively control the power split front-to-rear.
In other words, you can set the car up to run the max power to the rear or front, or any setting in between using a simple dial on the center console.

It's a great feature, but unless you're an experienced driver with a reasonable knowledge of AWD and differential settings, it can help you get yourself in a world of trouble.

STi's only come in 6speed manuals and thank god. tired of seeing performance cars with autos.

last time i checked most drag dedicated cars run a 2 gear automatic. they shift faster, better, and on time than any manual could, even with a great driver. granted....stock auto trannys are slow in all cars, but throw in a lentech or some other built auto tranny with a great torque converter, youll have a pretty good ride.

Leave the drag racing to the F-bodies and people who've seen "Too Fast Too Furious" too many times. Although, I've never seen it, and I've seen it too many times. Seriously, though, an automatic transmission is good for a low- to mid-level drag racer. Once you get up into the highly modified drag-specific racecars, they use a multi-lever sequential manual gear selector. And a parachute. They also run 6.2 second quarter miles.

Hey man Drag racing ins't as easy as you think man. epecially pro. Those guys pulling 10 g's of the line and running the quarter at 4.50's @325 MPH. Bracket racing is for the pros though. If you dont know what it is, it takes tons of skill. Traveling at over 150MPH you have to judge the guy next to you and beat him to the finish line at a winning margin under 2 hundereths of a second so you don't break out and automatically lose. I'd like to see you get the hell out there and try to win. If you don't know what your talking about then don't talk.

Nismo's right. The automatic tranny is the better trans for drag racing because is is faster shifting, and also it CONSISTANT. Im am from a drag racing family and I have a 05 RS AUTO because I want to bracket race.

i've seen plenty of manual cars do 8's and 9's at drag strips. Its no excuse for an auto. Only time i would say an auto is better is for 7sec and below.
