02 Tahoe wont start with fuel under 1/4 tank

I have an 02 Tahoe Z71 and love it so far. My only problem is that it won't start when the gas tank gets below ~1/4 full. It started about two months ago and after talking to some people, I put 1 gallon of gas in and it started right up. Of course the dealership has told me that the fuel pump is going bad. However, it has been 2 months now and I do not see any of the typical signs of a bad fuel pump (engine cutting out while driving or not starting again). If I am driving and the fuel gauge goes below 1/4 tank, the engine does not shut down. It is only when I try to start it below a 1/4 tank. I am open to any suggestions. Oh yeah, my Tahoe is at 48,000 miles.
