Turbo h23 vs. Turbo h22
k gotta question for all ya people out there i need help w/. I have a prelude with an h23. its gettin up there in the miles (about 115000) and i wanna make this prelude a fast one. here's the options i've come up w/...
1) keep the h23 and rebuild internals and turbo w/ a t3/t4. 2) swap an h22 in it, build internals and turbo w/ a t3/t4. i would like to get my lude hittin the high 12's.... while still being a street car. What would be the best option and about how much could i expect to spend for each of those? also... does the vtec in the h22 help out w/ power or still serve purpose with a turbo on it, or could i achieve the same power as a turbo'd h22 w/ a turbo'd h23. |

Re: Turbo h23 vs. Turbo h22
ok first off the h22 is way better than the h23. it has about 30 more hp. the vtech is fukin sweet on it. i would swap with a h22a build the inernals and get a turbo. u will get more hp out of a turbod h22. i hope u have at least 10-12 grand to put into just this. plus make sure ur exhaust can handle all this to.

Re: Turbo h23 vs. Turbo h22
ok, unknownluder knows nothing. On it's own, a h22a has more hp, however the extra compression isn't as good for turbo. From what I've heard, the lower compression ratio on the h23 (9:1 i think) supports turbo better. And it will not cost 10-12 grand. You can get a turbo kit for like $3000, installation and dyno time doesn't cost an extra 7 grand. So to answer your question ca2822, whichever engine you choose, it's better to build up the internals, but I think the h23 is better for boost. However a lot of people end up not boosting their enigne, so I'd say go with the h22.

Re: Turbo h23 vs. Turbo h22
^wat he said. its just preference, the main point of ppl saying the h23 is better for boost is the bottom end (stock), but if u are going to boost, and plan on building the bottom end to support that boost then that makes the h23 obsolete, go h22 if u have the $ but either is good. and it definetely isnt 10k to do it (unknowluder):

Re: Turbo h23 vs. Turbo h22
ok if the guy doesnt know wat hes doing the turbo costs $3000 ive had estimates for the installation and its about $1500. that adds up to $4500 so i gave him an estimate of after he builds up his internals and all the other fun stuff involved in making a turbo perform well
