Amp or Wiring problems

ok heres my problem. i had a old clario amp that i got for 50 bucks. it was ok (400 watts) for some reason it stoped working. it didnt blow or n e thing just stoped working. so i went out and got a new kenwood 800 watt amp. the thing is nasty. but for some reason i cant get it to work. what it does is when i put power to it it dosnt turn on but when i take the power off the blue light goes on and slowly fades out. im thinking its the remote wire but its working ok. does this mean that my old amp might still work.

yes, your old amp was probably just fine. What this sounds like is a blown fuse. Either the ones on the amp itself, but most likely the fuse on the power wire. You probably have an AGU fuse, same thing happened to me. Replace that fuse an see what happens

No all the fuses are fine. i was just working on it for hours and re checked everything. i even called the kenwood manufacurer and but they were closed. what i did find out tho is that i am getting power to the amp but it dosnt turn on. when i disconect the power the light lights up but fades out. this also happens when i touch the remote wire to the amp. so what i think it is now is a bad remote wire. so what i did was took speaker wire wired it to the remote wire from the deck and connected it to the amp but still did the same thing the light came on and slowly faded out. please if anyone can help please reply. thanks alot

you cant just tell if a fuse is fine. you have to replace it to see. same thing happened to me, it was a bad agu fuse. apparently they just stop conducting. You cant tell by looking at it, replace the fuse and go from there

A while a go at Best buy i bought up replacement fuses. i did what u said and it still does the same thing. i found something out tho. the remote wire is only giving out 11.28 volts when the 12 power source to the amp is getting 12.56 volts. i think this is the problem. if it is can it be fixed? does it have to do with my deck?

Well, to make sure thats your problem, take a paperclip, and jump from the B+ to the remote, do you get what I'm saying.... On the wire connectors on the amp. If the amp turns on, then the remote is your problem. What I would do next is check to make sure that the remote wire itself isnt pinched, or grounded to the frame anywhere. If all else fails, buy a relay, and use the remote wire to power the relay, and have the relay connect your B+, going to the amp, to the remote connection on the amp also. Get what I'm saying? Its possable its a deck problem, but unlikely. It would be either 12V, or nothing. I dont think there is anything in the middle. I hope you understand what I'm saying. sounds like a bad remote wire, but if it is the deck, you can do the method above, providing you get a relay that is able to switch on with the decks remote wire voltage. I hope i havn't screwed you up at all. Good luck, keep us informed.

i didnt understand a word of that lol but ima little slow lol. my amp did the same thing pretty much and it was the remote wire. what happend was the stereo was kinda old and i hooked the remote from the stereo to the amp and it just turned on for like a half second and then the light faded away but to see if it was the remote wire i just ran a wire from the + to the remote terminal on the amp so all you would have to do is run a wire from the + wire that you already have and slit another wire off it and conect one to the + and one to the remote but if you do it that way it will always stay on but thats how you would kno if its the remote wire

ok i tried what you said. i hooked up the 12 volt power source to the remote wire. but for god sakes it still wont turn on. the power light lights up right when u connect the 12 volt power to the remote but it goes right out. i really cant figure this out. i normally dont have trouble with this kind of stuff considering i hooked up like 4 of my friends systems but i cant seem to get mine to work. if any one has any suggestions on what i should try i am willing to take a shot at it. someone please it sux not having any good bass.

seems to be not getting enough current. Make 100% sure all your connections are tight as hell, and free of corrosion. ESPECIALLY ground, and no, a ground to a dognut spair hold down bolt isnt acceptable. My friend tryed that one once. Long story short, a million fuses and an amp later, he finally grounded it correctly. Can you hook the amp directally to the battery, and then jump the + to the remote? Or is the amp bolted down. I would do this to see if it is wire problems. Good luck

ok i have a problem i have a off brand amp Pyramid Crystal 1000 watt amp and the other day i turned my car around and everything just turned off(the amp).At first i thought i blew a fuse but i changed the fuse on the amp and the one in the power cord.Then i rewired everything from front to back and it still dosnt work is this a blown amp?

To both of you check your grounds, make sure the ground is good. sand thhe paint away from the area and make sure its getting good conteact with a bolt, not a screw and dont tape it to the metal (yes ive seen it done).

Bikeman take a small length of wire hook it up in the mount of the power and run the other end right into the remote (remove the remote wire from the HU) if it works then there is a problem with the remote wire im thinking it might be shorting out against the chassis or somewhere along the lenght of wire. Sorry blake i just read your post but thats what it sound like or a bad ground.
