Question 2001 maxima 20th an. ed. vs. 2002 civic si, who would win?

my friend wanted me to race race him and his 02 civic si standard. i thought that since his is a standard and mine is automatic (01 max. 20th an. ed.) he would win. and that he only wanted to race me b/c he knew he'd win.

so who do you think would win? 01 maxima or 02 civic si?

The Si would be pretty fast if no one else was in the car The car has so little torque off the line, you'd take it, then through 2nd and 3rd, he'd catch up. Especially once the Vtec kicks in. THen again, it depends on how good a driver he is. If he sucks, then I dont see why you couldn't take him. I think he's underestimating your car though, as most people do with the maxima.

Your AE has enough TQ to get a good lead off the line which his VTEC couldn't make up. If you want to really hurt him, take him to a full quarter mile and watch him cry lol

his vtec is comparable to our cvvtc and Variable intake manifold. just cuz it has vtec doesn't make it any better, lots of car companies have variable valve timing. our cars(5th gens) pull pretty damn hard in the top end.

yeah...i heard that i have a better top end and that's how i'd get him....plus he's lost a race before b/c he shifted wrong, people told me to hope he does it again. and when we do race it'll most likely be a quarter mile.

No, you definitely don't have a better top end. Honda builds the best high-winding motors this side of Ferrari and BMW. IMO, iVTEC is better than VVT from most companies. Honda's have great top end, that is what their motors are known for.

you definitely right
that why NSX is 4.8-5.0 s car
it don't need lots of torque to be fast
same thing with integra type R

I have a 4th gen with intake and ypipe. My dad has an 02 Si, they are fairly quick, but not as quick as people think they are.

I was at the local hangout one time and some guy just bought a brand new blue Si. Well I just destroyed a Prelude and this Si was just the talk of the hang out

Well everybody is like race him, blah blah blah. I just had my ypipe put on 2 days before this race took place. I said sure whatever. Well as were leaving the guy is screaming out the window VTEC VTEC VTEC. I yell back VQ POWER!!!

And we raced from a dead stop all the way to about 90. From the jump he had me by a nose due too I am an auto, but as soon as my car hit second he went back about 2 cars, and I just kept on pulling and pulling.

I definetly think an AE should take a SI easily.
