Kevlar

I was thinking about getting kevlar brake lines for my RSX, but after reading up on it, I found that kevlar looses its strength about twice as fast stainless steel in sunlight. BUt it flexes way les due to the fact that kevlar is stronger than steel. Has anyone looked into this more than me?

Are you planning to drive only at night?

Stainless steel should be sufficient. Also, are Kevlar brake lines D.O.T. approved?

Re: Kevlar

I have never heard of kevlar lines braking donw on bikes but most of the racers that use them dont keep them that long. The price if you can find them is usually about the same though so replacing them once a year wouldn't be that rough. Plus the braking will still be better than stainless until the kevlar has really broken down. Think about how much direct sunlight hits in your wheel well behind you wheel, tire, caliper and rotor. Hell crawl under a car during the day and look how little light there actually is on your brake lines.

Re: Kevlar

I will let you climb under my car. Hell you were under it today and trust me there isn't much light on my brake lines.

Re: Kevlar

that is partly because of your big ass wheels and your lowered body.

I realize that not much light goes behind them, but with the wheels I want it allows more light to get behind them. Not a lot I realize, but more none-the-less.

Re: Kevlar

Big ass wheels I have six spoke 17s you twit. I am lowered about 3 inches but that doesn't make a lot of difference. I thought you wanted to go big, just replace them once a year and you are set. Who makes kevlar lines for acura?

Re: Kevlar

it was your idea to get drunk before we fought, we didn't get drunk, therefore it was your idea that inhibited my fight idea.
