Angry Wiring or bad ground?

Here is the thing.
My multifunction switch is toast. When I go to turn on my low beams it turns on the park lights and stays on the DRL. Sometimes the low beams work and when I go to turn on the high beams, it goes to the DRL.
No biggie I can handle that.
Whats bothering me is when I go to use the CD player I get a popping and growling noise(basicly I'm picking up engine noise).
Checked all the grounds and they all seam fine. I have an aftermarket stereo and am driving 4+ hours to go to school.
Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

Re: Wiring or bad ground?

some of the dRL systems were junk. I don't have the DRL's on my car, but, on the J-body org site people are complaining about their DRL's

Re: Wiring or bad ground?

the multi-function switches are known problems with these cars. Check with your dealer to see if your car is covered under the recall, as your repair could be free.

Go the switched changed over the weekend.
No warranty or recal.
Solved the problem with the stereo too.
Amps are mounted on sub box and broke RCA connections inside the amp. Thanks for all the help though.

Re: Re: Wiring or bad ground?

Did you change the switch yourself? If not, how much did it cost you, if so, how would I go about doing it?

Re: Wiring or bad ground?

The multi function switch is you sinal light, cruise, high-low beam switch.
Three torx screws in the bottom of the colum cover, some "gental" persuading and off it comes.
I could only take off the top because the tilt lever was in the way.
Two torx screws hold the switch in, one on top and one at the front of the switch closest to the back of the steering wheel. Pop of the three connectors and done.
