Question Amp Power Problem...

Aiight check it, I had this Power Acoustik amp and it was having problems in the power so I took it to my local audio shop. And of course they fixed it. Well I just installed a bigger amp about 30 minutes ago and when I fired it up, the protection light was on. Its an Audiobahn A4002T amp. The manual says either my speaker wires are short or the amp is on temperature shut down. Being that the amp was never used before I kinda think my speaker wires are short. But if they are why was my old amp working right yesterday?

Thanks for the feedback in advance.

Another reason the protection light comes on is that it could be grounded out somewhere. check your connections

Re: Amp Power Problem...

Make sure the amp isn't touching any metal, and then if it isn't make sure the wires are connected correctly. If that isn't the case either then there may be something wrong with the ground wire itself, either replace it or follow it to where it is supposed to be touching metal and make sure there is a good connection.

disconnect the speakers from ur amp so that its only the power ground and remote and then turn it on. if its still in protection then u know its not ur speakers wires that is causing the problem. Next try hooking the amp up via some speaker wire to the battery u can do this in the engine bay of ur car or on a 12V power supply if u have one. If its still in protection ur problem is more serious and take it to a shop to get the circuit board checked out. If its not in protection then u know it was ur power or ground wire that is messed up, try rerouting them and making sure they arent pinched anywhere

Re: Amp Power Problem...

Thanks for the feedback once again. I took it to my local shop and found out that it was my ground wire that was messed up. It was nailed to some plastic or something. (I didn't install it). But they fixed it.
