Cold Air INtake'd my 3rd Gen. Seems to work good.

Heres what it looks like , I will see some day when I dyno it again if it has any improved performance or if it turns out to be just for looks.

Anywho , Linkage

looks good..

should free up quite a bit of air, but wont that draw a lot of heat from the rad and engine??

I have to go pick my girl from work in about 30 minutes so I will see if she has any noticable difference.

I'm just happen though with her getting cooler air constantly , even if there is no HP gain because it will save me gas and engine heat.

Re: Cold Air INtake'd my 3rd Gen. Seems to work good.

it's not a cold air intake, it's a short ram, all it has is a bigger pipe allowing more air flow, a CAI unit will pipe it's way down below the radiator, or close to it. That one will still pick up warm air. It still looks nice and will be an improvement over stock.

Re: Cold Air INtake'd my 3rd Gen. Seems to work good.

the CAI on my 4th gen is almost on the ground, its as low as it can possibly go....keeping it from the heat and allowing the best possible airflow

Re: Cold Air INtake'd my 3rd Gen. Seems to work good.

I ran itout hard as I could , I noticed a bit of increase in my burns and accel. It doesn't seem to pick up even half as much as the saucer type did of hot air from the engine , I have another peice of polished tube that I will have custom bent to put it below the radiator and slightly forth of it. But over all it 'seems' to work good.

You should try putting in a TPI snorkel intake, those are good for cold air.

Re: Cold Air INtake'd my 3rd Gen. Seems to work good.

It's right next to the engine ? The filter isn't withing 10"s of the engine. Only heat it possibly is picking up while moving is radiator heat. But also catches a small draft off the altenator - over drama's now - Giving me 80 more hp XD.

Just kidding. When I got home , I checked the filter to see how 'warm' it was going to be and it was rather cool.

Re: Cold Air INtake'd my 3rd Gen. Seems to work good.

but if you get the filter down under the car the air it picks up will be a lot cooler (+heat rises) and there is better airflow under the car

it's still too far into the engine compartment picking up the heat from the motor.

im saying its still close to the engine because it still gets hot under the hood. theres no airbox or anything to keep the air from getting warm before it hits the filter.

Re: Cold Air INtake'd my 3rd Gen. Seems to work good.

That is the whole reason I bought a 24X3" polished pipe , So I can have it bent and do it up under the radiator. Cold air only = Goal. Me = poor and lazy..lol
Lazy but not really poor. I just don't know any shops that will bend this for me.
