91 PA Headlights

Now that its dark early here in the NE I am finding that the headlights leave much to be desired. The glass on one lens has a BB size hole also. The lenses seem alright otherwise. Maybe a little scuffed. Also the reflectors are slightly pitted. My question is: is it worth the $55 to put in the svlvania bright blue bulbs? Will I see a marked improvment? Or should I go $300 for new assemblies I saw on e-bay, with OEM bulbs?

I would keep looking on ebay. I've seen them there plenty of times for around $30 for aftermarket assemblies. I have aftermarket lights on mine now (frickin' deer!), and I can't tell any difference between the OEM's and the aftermarket ones.

As far as the bulbs go, I'd replace the light assemblies first.

Re: 91 PA Headlights

So the whole assembly is replaced. Will it require it to be reaimed?

Re: 91 PA Headlights

Maybe, maybe not. I would at least have someone check the aim of the lights if you replaced them.

Re: 91 PA Headlights

I saw the high output bulbs but cant find any complete assemblies. The assembly will have lense and reflectors right?

Re: 91 PA Headlights

you have to watch it when you put high output bulbs, i've seen them melt the connector as it is not made to endure such wattage

Re: 91 PA Headlights

Just do a search on ebay for "Park Avenue Headlight"... I saw plenty of them. The prices range anywhere from $30 to $160 a piece.

Re: 91 PA Headlights

seafarer50: no no, HID bulbs is alright! they use 20000 volts or more to light up a special bulb.. since they use high voltage they need less amps and end up with the same wattage equivalent in lighting.. in lumens..

i mean dont use conventionnal 12 volts 100 watts bulb, it CAN melt the connector and wiring if they not tought enough... use 55 watts, maybe 60.. but not much over that

HID lights use a balast to tranform your car's 12 volts into 20 000 something volts and use a special ligh bulb and socket.. anyway, there not cheap.. and the bulbs are pricy ! but fittable on a car that dont have any.
