Colour code

Hi
Does anybody know how to tell the colour code of 205's? i,ve looked under the bonnet and the place where the code should be(according to the manual) is missing. I went down to halford and the nearest colour i could find was "steel grey". I dont want to buy any paint until i know the exact colour.

try looking on your door catch on the drivers side, failing that, you can take your car to a auto paint suppliers, they chip a bit of paint from your car, put it in a scanner and a computer works out a perfect colour match, allows for paint faid etc. but I think Peugeot only had 1 or 2 greys, try buying one and spraying it under the bonnet where it wont be seen to see if its a match.
