Re: Joy of all joys!

If you ever looked at the polls, you'd have seen that as pretty much a forgone conclusion. When it's this close, both sides will do everything they can to try to strike out enough of the oppositions votes to secure a win. Add to that the rather ridiculous fiasco that despite running with this system of election for many years they STILL haven't figured out how to count the ballot quickly and accurately, and the whole thing is a can of worms just aching to be opened...

Actually the counting went quite well, the issue outstanding are the provisional ballots. They amount to a couple hundred thousand of names that have been questioned as valid. Because Ohio lets people show up and vote even if they are not registered, they have to be checked that they are not voting twice - or that the name being voted under actually exists.

Even if all the ballots are legit, it probably won't change the outcome. My gut feeling is that Kerry will conceed later today. Al Gore lost a lot of political capitol in the fight last election (right or wrong) and Kerry may not want that to happen to him.

In my opinion if you are not smart enough to register before the election, like people with provisional ballots, your vote shouldn't count, However absentee ballots should. Basically it would take a mathmatical miracle for Kerry to win Ohio, and if he wants to hold onto that until the bitter end +1 for him, it shows he has intiative

Re: Joy of all joys!

The reason the voting is slow is because the Democrats insist on sneaking in illegal voters. You've never seen The GOP encouraging illegal aliens, felons, and drug addicts to vote. At the same time the Dems accuse the police of attacking blacks with dogs to keep blacks from voting, like that would happen. That's why I'd like to see severe penalties for doing just that. Who objects? The Dems!

I laughed first time I heard of that. Any person with a half of a peanut for a brain could deduce that people there illegally have no right to be there, and therefore have no right to do anything there, much less help decide the future of the country!

Do you have to supply an address to vote? If so, why couldn't they just use the address list of illegal voters to go around and deport them all? Hmm, maybe getting them to vote is a good thing after all...
