sticky gas pedal

I recently purchased a 99' pathfinder & am trouble with the gas pedal sticking. To be clearer, when @ a complete stop I try to accelerate & must virtually punch the gas pedal. It seems like there should be some simple lubrication that should fix this, but i'm not sure what it is. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Re: sticky gas pedal

Very common problem, just buy a can of throttle body cleaner, remove the air intake line from the throttle body, and start spraying. Make sure to put a towel or something under the opening to catch all the gunk and clean the butterfly valve softly with a toothbrush, should be good as new. You'll be amazed at what comes out.

I had the exact same problem.... ata stop, press the pedal and whoomp!! you launch forward.

You will be amazed at the results of cleaning out your throttle body! It will seem like a new truck. Nica and smooth with great pedal control. I am pretty good with cars and do all my own repairs. I was really surprised to have overlooked this. One of the guys at the local auto parts store gave me the tip. 30 mins very well invested. Take the large black rubber intake off the front of the throttle body and spray the heck out of the whole thing. I used a toothbrush also. Good luck.
