backfire

prob is car backfires when cranking n wont start, almost like timing is 180 degrees off, but belt is lined up, car has spark n is gettin fuel, has good compression n holds it...jus replaced the cap rotor looks good also...any suggestions possinle ignitor?

if it's 180 off, take off your distributor, and turn the pin 180 and place it back in.

check out for any vacume leaks....could be that...
to see if its that,have someone start it up...(if it does..) if its carb,with the cover off,put your hand over it.If it turns off,then its not a leak.If it accelerates it self,then try to find were its sucking from....if its f/i,then you have to take off the intake hose and cover the throtle body.see if it those the same as above.. just might be that..

honda only makes the distributer go on 1 way...n its F/I im leanin towards the pick-up, ill try that tmrw though

actually.. The tab that inserts into the end of the camshaft can be rotated 180 degrees, if I'm not mistaken. I've just been working with my cam for the past 3 hours...

it has a grove so that you dont put it off by 180 degrees...

I know this seems like an obvious check, but are the wires in the proper order on the cap when you put it back on? Sounds like the firing order is messed up.

checked the wires like 4 times they r good...imthinkinthe distributer itself is bad...i pulledit offnwhenuspinit2 times before it goes al the way aroundit makes a noise almost like the bearing is bad...
