Good Deal?
My friends friend has a ported and polished head and block. Also cams, cam gears, and pistons. I dont know if the pistons are forged or not but it dosen't matter right now. I also dont know if the cams are stock or not. Anyways, he is selling ALL that stuff for $100, which sounds to good to be true. So I am going to look them tonight, what should I look for to make sure they are OK and how could I tell if they are forged or not? (Besides looking for cracks and deep scratches, I know that already.)
One more thing, the reason he said he is selling so cheap is that those parts came out of his roomates built 420a (non-turbo'd), which supposedly ran 8s (on a 1/8 mile). But his roomate disappeared without a trace a few weeks back and just left these parts sitting in the garage. He has no use for them, because he drives a "p-impala", and he just wants them out of his way. So....let me know what you guys think. |

Re: Good Deal?
did you read the annoucment about putting the kind of car you have in the post or in your sig? obviously you didnt and none of us can help you since we dont even know if you're turbo or nt.
for a nt those part definately sound worth it. its gonna cost some money to install them but you'll still come out ahead. how much gain youll get depends what other mods you have. for a turbo the parts are all but worthless unless you resell them.

Re: Good Deal?
There is no such thing as ported/polished block, hard to tell what you meant by the wording. And the only polishing you want on the head is the CC (to eliminate hot spots) and the exhaust ports (to resist carbon build up). Some boneheads polish the intake ports, which isnt really a good thing (leave them 80-120 grit to keep fuel from clinging). Either way, its 100 bucks. I pay that in one week in diesel. Might as well pick the stuff up and sort it out later

Re: Good Deal?
Again, so such thing as a ported and polished block. Unles they're trying to get the oil to flow faster
