PA cranks will not start
1990 pa been running good, just had to jump start it sometime, turns out bad battery. neway run, drove good great car. did have some noise rattling sound from front of motor when idleing, give it some gas always goes away ( loose wore out damper on timing chain???) neway run good going down road just noise at idle. wife drove up street about a block car ran fine parked to visit grand kids, went back out to come home, battery down. son jumped car off on way back wasn't running right, next morning went out to charge battery, did, when i tried to start it acted like out of time, blow back through breather. it is getting fire plug wire to coils, spark looks good? getting gas in rails pushed down on the tire air thing gas squirted out. one thing when i tried to start it the next morning it did but ran rough couldn't give it gas, got out to check vac hoses noticed heat shield on the exhaust manifold going to cat converter red hot, turned it off quickly, now it will hit some enough to warn up exhaust manifolds. i know this is too long but one more thing. i can't find alcl link under dash, under radio is a plug link but instead of a throug g place there are just three wires going to it. checked under sterring while nothing, where in the world could it be, thanks for the patients, if this is too long or someway not right, mods delete johnie

Well, you could have alot of problems, If you have blow back thru the breather or PCV, then you have a internal motor issue, bad timing chain wouldn't cause blow by, but would definetly cause the rattling. I think its time you bring it in to get looked at. The converter is getting red hot cause your running extremely rich which could be cause the chain jumped and is running extremely off timing.

thanks for the come back. just wonder if a bad crank sensor could cause something like this, i mean getting fire but won't crank. got a fellow says he can show me where the alcl link is when he gets off work, he owns a ford go firgue. i guess if the manifold shield got red hot then the cat converter did too? johnie

Quote:
Your going about this all, Wires won't do anything for this, This has to do with motor issues, be it a bad chain or head gasket, cracked piston etc. Now you say it won't crack as in turn over at all, Meaning motor will not spin or just doesn't start up. The way your describing it, your motor is siezed up. The converter get red hot cause there was a excessive amount of fuel being unburned and deposited in the CAT. The cat at this point is definetly shot. describe more exactly what the motor is sounding like, cause your problem sound mechanical not electrical. how many miles on this motor? |
