fuel gauge problem

it never occur to me until now that whenever i pump gas, my fuel gauge would only rised to half. even when i pump it fully, the meter hand would only go half way. the meter hand would stay there for until when the car is almost out of gas, and that is when the hand start dropping really quick. any suggestion on what might be wrong?

Re: fuel gauge problem

mine did that too!

i thought the guy before me just never filled it up and there was some surface crap built up. figured it would eventually (if i kept filling it to full) clean the crap off and start working again. It's gradually getting better, but perhaps it's something else if its happenning to other peoples too...

i have a friend who drives a civic and his gas gauge was acting like this too. however, he got a new cluster and everything went back to normal. anyhow, i don't want to buy a cluster and find out that the problem is still there. i'll stick to ur method and see what happens.

Re: fuel gauge problem

besides... its better to pick up the bottom half of the gauge than the top half. you might not know when your full but youll know when your getting empty!
