Welcome to the world of fuel delivery problems on this vehicle.

I had/still have the same problem with a 1995 GMC Safari.

Changed the fuel pump and it worked for another 20,000 miles. Then started experiencing the same problems. Van would turn over, but would not start.

I changed the fuel pump and it worked great for another 82 miles. Same problems, except now it will start up and then shut off while driving. I turn the key back and forth a few times and the van will start back up. There is absolutely NO normal pattern as to when and how it starts. Changed the fuel pump relay. NO AVAIL!

Started tracing the wiring harness and noticed that I was only getting 8.5 volts to the pump when the van would not start. Even after changing the relay, it still didn't help. When the van started, I was getting 12.5 volts to the pump.

I'm beginning to think I need a new computer as it supplies the 12 volts to the gray wire going to the pump.

There are SOOOOOOOO many people with the same problem that you are having. Some change the fuel pressure regulator, others have had problems with the ground wire for the wiring harness and still others needed a simple fix like the neutral safety switch. I wish I could help you more. But this is a COMMON, COMMON, COMMON problem with these vehicles.
