Question remote control truck motor size

I have recently purchased a remote control truck off of ebay, and the genius does not know anything about it. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to figure out what size the motor is and what the fuel mixture should be? Thanks for the help.

your hot rod

The hot rod looks great. Just can't wait to see it whenever you are through. How long have you been working on it?

The Nitro MT Racer kit does not come with a motor, but anything from a .12 to .18 will fit without modifications. I would have been somewhat suspicious of someone who has a racer kit but knows nothing about it.

the truck is already assembled and has been driven. The motor has already been installed on it, and the guy stated that it was quick and ran fine. I began searching for accessories for it realizing that I needed the motor size and that is when I realized that he did not even state what size the motor was. I asked him about that and some other stuff and he did not the answer to any of my questions. (this was after I had already purchased it, so I guess it is just as much my fault as it is his) I was trying to figure out if there is any way to figure out exactly what size it is. Like on a cylinder, being able to see the diameter of the bore, but I am new at this end of engines, so I am not sure. Thanks for your help.

Do you have a link to the thing on ebay, were there pics on there.
I Honnestly would not buy something like that from ebay, I hope you did not pay too much. If he dosen't know what kind of motor I seriously doubt he knew how to break it in properly.

You should be able to go to the ebay home page and type in the item number 5928888294 and it should pull up the truck.

I looked at the item you purchased. Just so you know, that is not the "racer" kit it's the RTR. It looks like the engine is the stock .15FE. It's not a bad motor in terms of reliability, but somewhat underpowered.

What sort of hop-ups are you looking to add to it?

whenever you say underpowered, how bad is it? And as far as hop-ups go, I really do not know what I should start out by trying to get. I am going to wait until I get it and let him know about it not being a racer and also see what I can start doing to it.

Re: remote control truck motor size

Motor = electric
Engine = gas powered

Underpowered as compared to some of the others available. The .15FE is rated at .56 hp. Most mid range engines (in price) are putting out around 1.0 hp. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. I ran my MT with a .15FE for a long time and had a blast. Since I was new to off-road at the time, it was plenty fast enough.

I would recommend fixing the front diff and running the car 4WD. Put a slipper clutch in it, if it doesn't already have one. Then drive it and get a feel for the car before spending on hop ups.
