What's with this pull???

As some of you may know I just switched to 5 speed, and the first thing I noticed is it feels like I got a 50 HP increase! Don't worry I know I didn't gain anything but gear ratios, but now when I take off I get all kinds of torque steer!!! It's controlable but is there anything besides LSD that could stop that? Preferably cheaper than LSD.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

just get the LSD insert from speedfreakracing. Steve's a member of 3si, and for like $230, you can buy the heavy duty insert or for like $190, the regular insert. Basically what you do, is you drop your transmission to the ground, open up the differential housing, install the insert between the spider gears, and it prevents the spider gears from turning which acts as the exact same thing as an LSD.

i've read and researched and am really looking into Steve's LSD insert. Mainly, b/c its a LOT cheaper than a real LSD, and it APPEARS to function the same. Hotshot, could you tell me how a true LSD is different from Steve's LSD insert?

Re: What's with this pull???

if it prevents them from turning at different speeds ever, then that defeats the purpose of a differential. A real LSD allows slippage, but the clutch packs inside the differential limit it and try to keep the wheels turning at similar speeds, instead of only spinning whichever wheel has the least traction. With a closed differential it will cause premature wear on many other drivetrain parts, and the tires. Things will eventually break because of it; that is, if you ever plan on turning.

Yeah so that would then cause wheel hop on turns because one wheel wont be able to go a different speed than the other, gotcha. I'll just have to smooth out my starts, cuz i'm not buyin LSD when I could sell it and buy one with it in there.
