I'm new to the forum and first-time Dodge owner. I would appreciate any help you might offer. I just bought a '02 Ram Laramie 2500 (LOVE IT!
), and I want to change the stock AM/FM/Cassette to a stock AM/FM/Cassette/CD unit. My question is how difficult is it to remove the dash assembly to access the radio? Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide this Old Rookie. |

Re: Changing out stock radio.........
It's been a while since I've done one of those, but if I remember correctly, you just have to remove the dash trim around it. It should pop off fairly easily. Then I believe there are about 4 screws that hold the stereo in there. Remove the screws and start to slide the stereo out. Disconnect the wiring harnesses and the antenna, bam you're done. Installation is the opposite of removal.

Re: Changing out stock radio.........
No problem at all Old Rookie. With any kind of luck I'll be getting an 00-02 2500 with a Cummins soon.

Installed the new radio/cd unit yesterday and it only took about 15 minutes.
Thanks for a great forum and thanks again to PigPen for the help. |
