Unhappy 94 cutlass ciera 3100 v-6

Here is the deal I just bought this car and the miles on it is 98000 the car was not driven for about a year. Everything works the only problem is that the car has a weak take off when you try to do a fast take off it want to bog down only when taking of from a stand still once it is rolling it works fine. The car starts right up all the time and does not turn off while driving. The check engine light does not come on. I got a 93 lumina that has the 3.1 v-6 that makes the front tires burn some rubber so why can't this one do that.

Re: 94 cutlass ciera 3100 v-6

try replacing your fuel filter. It may be a little clogged.

the lumina and the cutlass probably have different trannys. I have a 94 supreme with the 3100 and my friend has a lumina with one and i can get rubber with my 4 speed and he cant with his 3 speed.

Thanks For the info.

As far as both cars are concerned they both have the 4 speed

I will replace the fuel filter I did not do it because it looks like they just replaced it.

I would start with a tune up - replace fuel filter, plugs, clean injectors, etc.

Thumbs up Re: 94 cutlass ciera 3100 v-6

Finaly the problem has been solved it was the map sensor. I just took it off and cleaned it. it had alot of what I would call lint on the sensor. It is running like a champ now.
