trans fluid stick on 89 e-250?

Where the heck is it because i can't find it? The oil stick is on the right of motor and i guess the trans should be on left....a red stick but nothing at all. I looked real good too. Also, how much would a trans cost for that van? just one to keep it going for a few more months thats if i do need one or maybe something i can do just to keep it running like throwing some sawdust in it. thanks

The transmission dipstick is on the right side, up under the cowl at the far outer edge of the "doghouse". You can barely see it, and there may be a heater hose in your way.

It's generally not red, but yellow or black.
