Valentine1

I have heard from several people that the Valentine1 Radar detector is the best way to go. My bro-in-law has a V1 in his Porsche 951 and he says its by far the best radar detector hes ever had. I know these things have arrows that show the direction of the cops and detect from the front, back, and sides and even tell you how many cops there are. They are pretty expensive. I was wondering if you think they would be a good purchase...so far, im bought.

Agree with you hands down. The X50 has much better detection of all bands, and has the second best POP detection. The V1 has absolutely NO POP detection ability (Which is a HUGE down side), not to mention the V1 is alot more $$$. I have the X50 in red, and it works magnificintly! I would say go that way, you will be much more satisfied.

I have never used a radar detector before. I was wondering how well they work. Because like if you get caught with one you get a bigger ticket right?

I've never even gotten a speeding ticket and there have been so many times I should have. I'v been extremely lucky so I know I got a whole stack of them waiting for me someday lol. So I keep thinking about getting one, but if I was going to buy one I want to make sure its gonna work b/c thats all I'd need is to get nailed and get nailed with the detector to top it off.

Re: Valentine1

dude...i should've been given a LOT of tickets as well...hehehe...ive been also really lucky...but as far as i know...about the whole radar detector...wich isnt very much :P...but it depends on your local laws and what state your in...cuz here in mn...ive heard that its legal...ive seen quite a few people that have them...but i have no idea about how well they work...some only detect from the front...front and rear...or all around...but range wise? i dont know...maybe the more expensive the better? hehehe...but it might not always be true...

Detectors are pretty much legal everywhere, but if you get pulled over the chances of you getting out of a ticket are greatly reduced because you have one. Cops get pissed at people that have them so they dont cut you slack. BUT, my X50 has saved me many a time. Ive never been pulled over with it because on the highway i have a LONG time before i get to the cop. It lets me know the cop is there well before he knows im there. It says on an open desert strech it can detect up to 10 miles away for certain radar...which is like almost 10 min depending on speed...so the X50 is definatly strong, and also has good false alarm prevention. Note to anyone that has any detector...KA band is used only by police, so if that band is detected, slow the fuck down because it smells bacon ahead.
