Hello Gang:My AC Condensor gave out, so I replaced it with one on bought on Ebay. My quesdtion, since parts are starting to get harder and harder to get on our Aurora. Can the AC Condensor be repaired. I know radiators can, but can these units be rewelded and the leaks and holes sealed. Any comments would be appreciated.Thank You

hey there... OK, so this is some info for you. When you check the oriface tube out, and its got black metal shavings from the blown compressor, you would FLUSH the system. Then FLUSH the system again eventually you will see that it turns to a grey then gets cleaner around the 3 or 4th time of the FLUSH. But if your condensor is leaking its time to replace it. ASE mechanics that know AC (air conditioning)will change the AC condensor *dryer, oriface tube. If the compressor is leaking @ the shaft seal its time to buy a new compressor. Rebuilt or New is just fine. They come with a warranty.

The gauge of metal that a condensor is made of is too thin to be welded
or brazed. I don't know if soldering would hold the A/C pressures. Best thing to do is to replace the condensor. ______________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

Re: Can AC Condensors Be repaired
Depends on the damage and if the weld will hold. The ASE mechanic will make this decision.

I just had an a/c condensor off a Chevy pickup tig welded where a hole had chafed through the feed line a while back. Looks like the same guage of tubing as the one on my Aurora. Yeah, they can be fixed. Got my own tig machine now and will probably do it myself next time.
