Car Leaks When It Rains

My 2002 Monte Carlo Leaks On The Front Passenger Side When It Rains. Water Drips From Under Dash And Leaves A Puddle On The Floor. Any Ideas?

Re: Car Leaks When It Rains

is it still under warranty? check the fresh air intake for the heater where the hood and windshield come together for something that's not right. That's all I can think of

My 00 MC - same thing except on drivers side. Are you sure it comes from under dash? Mine comes in under door moulding.

Same problem, faulty installed windshield, gaps in black caulking...

My '88 leaks from under the passenger side dash as well. From what I know, it has to do with the air intake for the heater not sealed well.

A common problem...too common.

Re: Car Leaks When It Rains

My 2002 SS did the same thing... I replaced the cabin air filter and lost one little clip that holds down the cover for the air filter. It started leaking in the front passenger foot area, replaced the clip and no leaks. Unfortunaltely, I was unable to find the right size at any auto parts store, so I had to go to the dealer and pay 2.50 for a little piece of plastic...

Re: Car Leaks When It Rains

I know what your going through! My 2000 Monte Carlo had the exact same problem. I would have to sponge a lake of water out on the passenger side in 30 degree Chicago weather. After over 1-1.2 years of mechanics telling me it is a heater core etc..., anything to make a buck, I finally took it to a body shop that I could trust. They researched it and were not able to find anything until reassembling the car near the windshield. There is a black baffle that is able to be removed that rests up against the windshield. If you flip it over, check the weatherstrip. If you think it looks questionable, replace it! If you just want to change it for the heck of it to see if it helps, replace it! It only costs approx. 80 cents to do this. My Monte Carlo has not had a lake on the passenger side since! How about that! Sometimes mechanics don't check for low cost things and just want to make a fast buck.

Re: Car Leaks When It Rains

Just a gasket!?! The dealer charged me like 300 bucks when my 2002 was leaking on the pass. side. They replaced the whole plastic cowl panel. I guess the second part number was the gasket. I was like a week out of warranty. I should have known better.
