3 weeks ago I turned my brand new Z71 Colorado into the dealer with an enging light that turned on. They ended up pulling the head off per service bulletin number 1550772. They sent the head out to be rebuilt. The number 3 cyclinder was 20 pounds under pressure from the other 4 cyclinders. The spark plug was cracked and the exhaust valve was stuck in number 3 allowing the drop in compression. American Chevrolet in Modesto did the work and I do have the truck back and it seems to be running great. They covered all costs including the rental car. I'm just nervous because it was a brand new engine that should not of had any problems at all. Now if it stays together I'm worried about oil leaks and vacuum leakes because they had to remove damn near everything out of the engine campartment to remove the head.

Re: engine problems service bulletin 1550772
Might be ok with this. Usually, not always I suppose, this type of work is done by an experienced tech, maybe a real mechanic. Probably now better than when assembled new. Sure hate to see all these problems with GM engines these days though. Through the years seems like you could always depend on a GM engine to be a reliable, solid powerplant. Not so much these days.

If anything else goes wrong, take it back to the dealer. No big deal. That's what the 3/36 warranty is for.

I guess it's true not to buy a first year car from GM. I wouldn't worry too much though. The warranty is long enough to work the problems out.
