Question Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

As a very new owner myself, i would really like to hear opinions and suggestions about this model/year.

What kind of mods have you done?
What kind of mods would you NOT reccomend?
What prblms, if any, have pissed you off?

And, most importantly, what color is it?

I have the 2002 z24 w/ ecotech 2.2L
Indigo blue, all stock so far.
graphite interior, with a tan headliner?!?! wtf?!
Standard trasmission, about 36000 KMS

And so far i like it quite a bit. Need more power tho. fo sho'

ditto... Now remeber kids... Z24 stood for the 2.4L LD9.... they died in 2001(2).. not sure of the exact date cause i don't own a Z... Maybe a Z owner will post it..... if you have an ecotec loaded.... you have an LS sport.... good day.

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

I have the 2002 Z24.. It was off the production line mid-year 2002...
Mine's Indiglo Blue....Tan cloth interior
Pioneer 8600 Head Unit
Clear HVAC Knobs
Clear Corners
Altezza Taillights
Super and Hyper white bulbs up front..
35% Tint on all except for front window

I haven't had any major problems with the car.. I have approx. 37,500 miles on it right now..It's a quick car stock, 150hp at the fly wheel...The only thing I really dont' like too much is there is some vibration on the clutch when depressed.. But that's minor...Other than that I'm really happy with it...Hope you like yours, and the Ecotech is a good engine..

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

Z/24 does not specifically refer to the 2.4 TwinCam engine, as the first Z/24 Cavaliers had 2.8 V6's and then 3.1 V6's. The first 3rd generation Cavaliers in 1995 had a 2.3 (Quad 4) 4 cylinder, with the 2.4 TwinCam not making its first appearance until 1996. Mr Fuzzy is not stupid, as Cavaliers are still badged by GM as Z/24 in Canada, not to be confused with the Canadian dealer applied "Z/22" package.

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

Thnx KJrich...

I was pretty choked after reading Jayson's comment... I had a whole flame post typed out about americans... It was so bloody long that by the time I was done, and read over it once, I had calmed down. "Think before you speak" is a saying some of us should take to heart.

That's all I have to say about that.

Is the body kit on the LS sport the same as the one on the Z24? I haven't noticed any LS sport models here, so I can't really compare myself.

Pitt 99, I appreciate your reply, and I'm pretty happy that you haven't had any major problems with your car.. I'm really hoping that this is a keeper!

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

ok i wasnt calling you in personally stupid, just the backward ways of canadian GM section. The Z24 is supposed to be a package that has the extra power among cavaliers. Well all the cars made after 2002 have the ecotec engine, 140HP, so the Z24 package is nothing special anymore, just another cavalier.

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

Fuzzy.. It is a real keeper.. If you're like me, and just about everyone on here... Whether you have a lot of mods, or no mods at all...As long as you take care of your car with all the proper maint. work on it.. It'll be there no matter what....And trust me.. It's a fun car...I had a VW Beetle with some young punk in it, and he decided he wanted to race.. Needless to say it didn't last long.. But it was just fun to take someone in a Cavy....So hey...Have fun with it, and keep us all up to date on your progress...

Doesn't it have a sway bar on it? Does the LS sport have one?

My z24 handles like a dream, very responsive, very little body roll.

That's something the other models don't have, as far as i know.

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

ok i really dont think sway bars are something to make a whole new name for a car. I mean whos gonna see your car and say "oh man a Z24 thats got a sway bar!" I mean in that case why dont they just make a new model name for every mod.

Z24 is supposed to be a total package thats a good step up from the rest of the model line up. How does a sway bar make it that much better? And you can add that sway bar to any model you want. Just in my eyes the Z24 stopped in 2002 after the last LD9 engine was put in them.

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

yes, I would have to agree. My car isn't worthy of the Z24 logo... I will tear them off right away!

sacarsm aside... I can see where you are coming from.

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

Just having the 2.4 doesn't make the Z/24 that special or rare. Hell, you used to be able to buy 4 door Cavalier LS's (not LS SPORTS) with the 2.4 TwinCam and those cars looked like any other base model 2.2 Cavalier, with exception of maybe 15" rims instead of the 14" or 15" hubcaps. I'd love to find one of these '95-'99 4 door LS cars with a 2.4 -5 speed; it would make a pretty good sleeper.
On the same note, they even made 3.1 V6 second generation Cavaliers that were NOT Z/24's.
At any rate, the non Z/24 Cavaliers with the factory installed V6 or TwinCam are the ones that are rarer, or special (if you can even consider these mass-produced economy cars as rare or special).
I'm not trying to flame, but it seems that some people are implying that any non 2.4 TwinCam Z/24 Cavalier is worthless, but there are plenty of people tricking out even the 2.2 basemodels. We all have Cavaliers and I wish we wouldn't shove it in other people's faces if they don't have a "real" Z/24. You want to rag on someone, rag on the people that put Toyota badges on their Cavaliers, to imitate the Japanese export Cavalier that was badged a Toyota.
Don't flame me too bad, I gotta go, the wife is going into labor (baby #2), so I probably won't have time to argue about this any more.

Re: Who among you owns a 2002 z24?

no one is bashing on anyones cars. . . all im saying is its not a Z24 because the engines doesnt stand out from the rest of the model line up. And the V6 3.1 engine stood out from the rest of the line up. i never said the Z24 had to be a 2.4L engine, i dont think anyone but you said that. All i said was that the Z24 is supposed to be the model line thats got the extra HP and the better package. And all the sedans with the 2.4L engine, they are badged Z24 as well.
