temp gauge not working...fan not kicking on

I bought a 97 metro a couple of weeks ago and temp gauge didn't work but I thought the fan worked. I put in a new thermostat, temp sensor, tore out the dash to check connections still not working. Also I jumped fan to battery and the fan works(I also checked fuses and resistor all fine). I have been driving it and it does not seem to over heat. But it spooks me the fan doesn't come on. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they fixed it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: temp gauge not working...fan not kicking on

That seems to be how they work, my fan has never come on even in hot weather. I guess the little motor has plenty of cooling from the coolant.
The heater works better than my grandpa's wood stove in the winter

what you can do is connect directly the fan with the battery and put a switch inside your car to turn the fan manually
that could be a workaround that u can try
