I just picked up some interesting tidbits of info for anyone who has been following the Enron fiasco. They spend about 2.4 million, however there was a smaller company called Global Crossings who spent upwards of 2.8 million dollars on people such as John McKain and several lobiests on capital hill. They also contributed a 1/4 of a million to both the democratic and republican conventions. The only returns they got from it was a 400 million dollar govt. contract to build a private, high speed network for the pentagon. However the pentagon later changed it's mind after complaints from Sprint, Worldcom and Quest

The funny thing is that were Enron spent around 2.4 million and turned a profit of 1.2 Billion, Global Crossings spent 2.8 million and racked up a
loss of 1.8 Billion. Needless to say Global Crossings is now bankrupt but it has struck a deal with two aisan companies to aquire it. The government contract for the pentagon is still to be handed out and not withstanding its current troubles, Global Xings still maintains that they are in the running for it. However because this network would be handeling sensitive date, it is doubtfull that the US Govt will give the contract to a company controled by forign companies :P
