my husband and I recently purchased an 88 nissan pulsar nx, the car cranks but will not turn over. we have replaced the coil and the distributar cap. could you please tell me what else could be the problem? The car has sat under a tree without being started or touched for about 10 years so I am surprised it does what it does. Anyone who can tell me something please do so. THANK YOU

Just helped buddy start a a 1980 280ZX that had sat for years. It turned over great but didn't even try to fire, turns out all it needed was new plugs. Here's a neat trick to check it out.
If you haven't replaced plugs try this, unseat but don't completely remove the spark plug wires from two cylinders. Idea is to make the spark jump from plug wire to the plug itself. This seccond jump for some reason will cause even plugs to run hotter and force even the most dead of plugs to fire on the other side. Monkey around with it and do it to the other cylinders. If you do this and notice any improvement in the way she runs, definately get new plugs. |

Re: please help fix my car
May be old gas. Pull the coil wire and set it close to metal and try cranking it to make sure the coil is firing. Clean the mass air flow sensor(MAFS). Check the connection to the MAFS. Check the injector connections. Check the O2 sensor. Check your ground points. Turn the key to the on position and listen for the fuel pump to make sure it is working. Give that a go and see what happens.
