Transmission problem

1998 dakota v-6 automatic 93,000 miles. From a stop and apply any amount of power I get 3 quick chuggs and the tires may chrip. Slow steady start and no problem. Ok at speed. Am I in for big problems?

Re: Transmission problem

sounds like first gear is wasted; do you drive it hard?

Re: Transmission problem

well, not wasted, but screwing up. my 2000 neon did the same thing. of course thats because i was stupid enough to rev it in neutral and drop it into drive; but that could happen over time to any transmission
