Rumors?

Last night I was talking to one of my friends and he said some people told him that the evo engine will go in the rs/gs frame. I thought this was weird and so did he but he said it made since because the timing belt and everything is on the same side as the 420a. Has anyone else heard about this or done it?

there was a guy on dsmtalk that was trying to do that, i think there are some post of how far he got, as far as i know i think it would fit, if you can put a 1g motor in a 2g why would they change the evo around. if you look on dsmtalk for some of the posts you might find them. but i dont know why you would want to try this, the evo is sweet, why would you want to spend the cash on it and then just drop it into a 2g?

Re: Rumors?

It's probably an easier swap than getting the DSM 4g63 in there, because of the opposite way the motor sits. However, I'm willing to bet there was still A LOT of custom fabrication that had to be done, just maybe not quite as much as the DSM 4g63.

Re: Rumors?

the evo motor and the 2g motor are not changeable they are two completely different setups you probaly be better off doing with the rs but none of the electronics would hook up because the rs is an neon motor i dont think that you could do it unless you had alot of money that you didnt want

Re: Rumors?

you would have to do a little less frabication, but the evo engine would be more expensive, unless you find a totaled one on auction.

Re: Rumors?

I was speaking to a performance mechanic who told me that the engine from the srt-4 would fit in to an eclipse gs/rs with no problem. I don't know if he's tried it though. His shop does a lot of engine swaps so it might be possible.

You had to bring up the Neon thing... didn't you? Makes me cringe up all funny and twitch a little bit.
