Sure. "Gas Mileage" is for determining the distance travelled over a specified unit of fuel.

j/k

I used to get 16-18 MPG, with my MT tires I'm down to about 14 if the wind is behind me and I'm going downhill. Some people have reported as high as 20-21, but I think they don't know how to use a calculator properly.

Jens,

Are you calculating in the change in tire diameter?

Isn't there something like..."if you have to ask, you can't afford it."

Scott..there are certain things you will have to understand in communicating with our friends below our border.

Do Not mention Kilo but say Pounds
Do not say Km but Miles (we can calculate it for them)
Do not say small or medium say Xlarge or XXXXlarge

and always highlight their Large American Penisis (South Park)

Adjusted a whopping 5% (this would make a 30" = 31.5", still too much), a 14 MPG would become only 14.7. I guess my tires are like driving on blocks of wood, I can feel the treads walking and the rolling resistance is definintely noticeable over the Long Trails.

I can't afford it but I still drive it. Hey maybe I should go into politics.

It must suck having a $1.49 "value menu" at McDonalds up there eh?

BTW that McDonalds on 1st in Vancouver is the most F'd up place in all of N. America. (I've got a good rant for next time we get together).

Im lucky to get 12mpg highway or city. In fact i've been to the dealer twice about this very issue. They told me all is fine so im guessing its my driving style. btw I got the same gas mileage with my stock tires as I got with my 31" mudders

Since you haven't told us what kind of X it is, I am going to guess. It wouldn't happen to be a supercharged 2002 would it? If it is, enjoy that great gas mileage because it will only get worse from here as you add tires and stuff.

If that is the case, I will give you a quick education on engine operation. A supercharger rams air into the motor through the use of impellers. There is a device called a Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF for short) that reads how much air is input into the motor. When you push on the gas pedal, you are simply opening a butterfly valve for increased air flow and moving a device called a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS for short). This and the MAF are what determines how much fuel flows into the motor via the injectors. The more air across the grid, the more fuel is required to achieve the government required air/fuel ratio. Because of this, the superchargers are prone to get lousy gas mileage. Basically you get V8 gas mileage in a V6.

If you don't have a supercharger, you have one of two problems. Either the air/fuel ratio isn't correct and you're blowing fuel out the tailpipe or your driving technique may need some adjustment.

We already get V8 mileage in a V6, supercharged or not.

I guess that depends on what V8 you are looking at. Even with my 32" tires (ATs for road) I get around 15 - 17. I am absolutely sure that when I add my Swamper off-road tires that this will go to heck in a hand basket. But since I will only be using them for off-roading trips, it won't be as big a factor. Others who have switched to more aggressive treads and use them for everyday driving have noticed a marked decrease in fuel mileage.
