Re: 94 bravada help needed

Your noises might be related to the poor running condition of the engine. You access the sparkplugs through the rubber flaps on the inner fenders from behind the front tires with a wobble socket, 12" extension and ratchet. Change the plugs and be careful around #5 as the knock sensor closeby has a very-very fragile plastic connector that'll break if you get near it with anything.
While you've got the plugs out on either side, smell'em for raw gas...you most likely have a CPI injector problem and/or cracked fuel supply lines inside the intake manifold spraying fuel everywhere...might even be deluting your oil so thin it'll wipeout the bearings and crankshaft.

Don't ruin yer crank for the price of 5 qts. of oil.

You got a good deal, just repair the car to get your money's worth. Is the car pretty slick otherwise? I think the '94 was the nicest, most reliable year. They had very nice options. My '92 has been a good one but like any car, they have to be maintained. Lotta people complain about the price of the CPI replacement...they just need to compare the price against other fuelers including electronic carburetors.

Re: 94 bravada help needed

Rough idle sounds like chris said, you need to replace your cpi. Buy the regulator on e-bay or at your local auto parts store and the nut kit at the dealer. Remove your plenum and if one side is real shiny you have a leaky cpi/nut kit.(Check out the blazer forum for a pic of what it would look like)

Thumbs up

I guess we need to start:
#1 Do you have a Check Engine light on?
#2 Do you know how to get any Trouble Codes?
#3 Have you changed those other 3 plugs yet?

Post your results and we'll try and work this out.
The prices on Bravadas are falling through bottom. It won't be long till people start junkin'em' out, what a crummy deal for America's first luxo SUV. Wish I had a pot fulla cash and an empty barn.

Re: 94 bravada help needed

You won't believe the improvement you'll see in the way it runs and mpg. Just take your time putting it all back together. Once you get it all back together turn your key just to on to pressurize your fuel lines and to check for a leak. Don't forget to check your egr port and make sure it is clear and free of all carbon.

Glad you found your problem, like Lou says, a pressure test by turning on the ignition switch after you install the parts will confirm a good assembly.
How many miles you got on that baby?

Re: 94 bravada help needed

I paid $275 for the CPI and $68 for the line kit(they call it a nut kit but there ain't a nut in the kit...maybe they're talkin' about the guy at the other end of the wrench handle...lol) and that was a few years ago so what your talking about is not bad at all to me.
