95 318IC Keyless Alarm Programming
I recently bought a 95 BMW 318I convertable and was sick of using the key to get into the car. I bought a keyless entry system and looked up wire colors online, took out the glovebox, and noticed that there was already an alarm system hooked up to the car. I believe it is a factory installed alarm as the wiring completely matches the diagrams i found for the BMW alarm.
In addition, there is a red LED in front of my shifter next to the cigeratte lighter. I've purchased a keyless entry remote on ebay that matches the appropriate alarm. Now i just need to figure out how to program the alarm to accept the new FOB. I've read a description online and tried it, but it doesn't seem to get me anywhere. It involves opening the trunk (leaving open), open drivers door, close drivers door, cycle the ignition 5 times. It then says that the red LED will light up solid and the car will chirp when it is time to push a button on the FOB, my LED doesn't light up and the car doesn't chirp. Is there a differant process for my car than the one I read? Thank you in advance for your help! |

Re: 95 318IC Keyless Alarm Programming
You've got the 'early Dealer installed DWA. Briefly [short on time] you need to remove the control unit and pop open the back cover. open the remote, replace the battery if needed, remove the chip and insert it into chip socket of the control unit. theres a tiny button next to the socket you push and wait for the LED to flash. this programs the control unit to accept the remote signal. reinstall the chip in the remote and test.
more complete instructions are somewhere and I'll supply them Mon. if needed. |

I just took out the unit which says "BMW Keyless Entry & Alarm", and it doesn't look like there is a place to put any type of a chip. There were two differant codes on the alarm unit: A269ZUA070, and 82 11 1 467 756. I've googled these and come up with absolutly nothing as to what exact alarm this is.
does anyone know what exact type of alarm this is, and what is the code that cooresponds to the FOB remote? It's possible i have both the wrong remote AND the wrong way to program it. Thanks |

Thank you for your help. I don't know if this will assist you or not, but i've uploaded some images of the alarm module to:
<a href="http://www.cs.du.edu/~bwisser/alarm.html">http://www.cs.du.edu/~bwisser/alarm.html</a> If I do have the system where I need to place the chip into the module to code it, would it go into the white square box as shown in the third picture? |
