Oil level/pressure - guages/sensor problems!!

My screen below my console said low oil level. I thought the sensor was bad so I changed it after letting it be and checking my oil daily. When I put the new oil level sensor in, the oil pressure gauge would shoot all the way up when I start my car then the engine shuts right off. Can some1 please help with this. Some 1 told me to unhook my battery so the computer could reset cause I changed a part haveing to due with the wiring system but when I hooked the battery back up it does the same thing.

Put the old sensor back in and check if car shuts off. Check the wirring and look for a short. Try doing that first.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Here's what I'm understanding. Console says low oil. You check and you have oil. You then changed the oil level sensor. Now here's where I need some clarification. You put the new sensor in and now the oil pressure guage pegs out then the engine stalls? Was your pressure guage working before? When was the oil changed last? Oil filter? Do you get e drop in pressure prior to the engine stalling? Any unsual engine noises i.e. lifter clatter? I just had my oil pump go out and it caused my pressure guage to jump around erratically just prior to it going out. Give some more details and we'll go from there. Include year and engine.

i have a 96 JGC and i recenly replaced my sending switch..

now the oil pressure gauge is all over the place...

if the car is warmed up after driving for about 20 min it will go up to 80 at idle...when i hit the gas ..it will settle down..I changed the oil..still does it it will range any where from sitting @ 30 -- 60
