aftermarket deck with factory bose

ok somebodys got to be able to help me, ive spent to many hours on this and need to walk away for awhile. it kind of reminds me of mario brothers when i was five. i have the 2000 gt with the factory eight speaker system with a bose amp in the trunk. the factory cd player sucks so i bought a sony cd player. i also dropped $50 on a headunit replacement converter because i would like to retain the factory amp and speakers. so when i splice everything together, i get power to the radio and nothing out of the speakers. i noticed that when toying with the factory deck it was the same. the only difference was this tiny little harness with four wires coming out of it. when i plugged it back into the factory deck, walla! sound. the problem is there is no where to plug those into the aftermarket harness. what the crap do these wires do anyway?!?! obviously they are important if the factory deck needs them to get juice to the speakers. i am also a bit frustrated because i can not find the wiring schematics anywhere!! a la i can not figure out on my own what these wires are for. someone pleeeeaaassseee help me! i cant take any more of this and all i want is for my nice new sony cd player to work in my nice new pontiac! all help is greatly appreciated.

Re: aftermarket deck with factory bose

ok, the site you gave me helped, once i took the patient route and sat down to compare wire colors, etc. basically i narrowed it down to one wire, its pink, and is labled as RADIO SIGNAL - ON. i dont know what this means or where to hook it up on my new deck, but i'm almost positive this is it. if anyone else has any great ideas, please let me know. hasnt anyone else ran into this problem before?

Re: aftermarket deck with factory bose

It sounds like the pink wire is a signal wire from the factory radio that turns the amp on when the radio is turned on. Try hooking the pink wire to the power antenna lead on your aftermarket stereo. It will function as a signal wire, as it only has power when the radio is on.
