Adding a manual transmission

Hi guys, im new to this forum and it looks like you all know alot about alot so hopefully someone here can help me.

I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse 1995 RS with an automatic transmission. Now some guy is selling me his manual transmission from his car which he totalled but he said the transmission was fine and its still in good condition. He is selling the transmission to me for just $250 which is pretty cheap but the thing is i dont know how to do the change and i know its a big process and i dont even know an estimate of how much it'll be to do the change. Has anyone done this to their car recently and can tell me how much they paid for it and how long did it take to do it????

Thank You,
Nick

it'll be more money than you're ready to spend, and it will take alot of time. Be prepared for your car to be in the shop alot. If i were you, I'd sell my car and get a manual RS, or GS, or, dare I say, GSX/T

Re: Adding a manual transmission

its juss not worth it. its too time consuming and too much money even if you get the transmission for free.

Re: Adding a manual transmission

Might as well grab the tranny anyway, for that price. Someday you may have the confidence to do the swap. I did one on a 2g NT, and its a pain in the ass. The actual work isnt all that hard, its just the fact that we had to stop after 30 minutes to order some part. 2 weeks later go at it again, 30 minutes into it found some other part we needed. There are parts lists out there and various vfaqs (check the NT forums) but there are always little things that screw you. For this reason I would only do this myself. A shop would be tearing thier hair out and would either hack job it or take forever and charge a fortune.

Damn, that seems like a really hard job, this is my primary car so i cant afford to have it in my garage for too long, and that definitely seems like a lot of money and alot of parts to buy. I guess ill just have to sell it and try my luck finding another car.
