I have an automatic 1995 Eagle Talon TSI; The car won't shift any higher than 1st or 2nd gear; it tries to go higher but then slips back down to a lower gear. The tranny fluid was checked and was almost dry; it was a purplish black color. We went and put 1 qt. in it and now its almost 3/4 full, but the shifting is still off. Do we need to fill it up with more fluid and see what happens or does the tranny have to be rebuilt/repaired??

Re: Transmission Problems?
The tranny is almost certainly done, sorry to say. If the fluid is burned the clutches are too. I wouldnt even waste any more time with it. Get it rebuilt or replaced.
