Re: Any Need To Knows on Pulling Engine?
No tricks just unhook all the shit and mounts shift linkages.pull axels out everything else if you know how to do it, its about an 1 and 1/2 hour job or so its not hard...well if you know where all the mount bolts and other shit is it takes about that long but if not it will be longer alot longer cause you will possibally get on a bolt thats hard to get to or stuck on or anything..Goodluck

Re: Any Need To Knows on Pulling Engine?
Basically unhook all the battery cables, wire harness's then pull the axles, remove the rubber fuel hose that runs from the fuel rail to the filter, drain the coolant ( there is a large bolt on the front of the block to drain the coolant) then remove the top and bottom coolant hoses, then remove the coolant hoses that run from the heater core to the motor, be sure to drain the oil and tranny fluid too. After that it is pretty much just unhooking the exhaust and unbolting the motor mounts.

Re: Any Need To Knows on Pulling Engine?
first time you do it will take a while, then it will go about twice as fast next time and keep getting a bit quicker each tme after that. I cant even count how many times I have had my damn engine out of my car. but now I can sleep in, wake up around noon, pull the engine, replace the clutch, swap on a new head, time the cams, drop it back in, and still have a lot of the day to enjoy the running car

if you are not familiar with all the hoses, tubes, and wires under your hood get a big roll of masking tape and a sharpie marker then mark everything as you unhook them. This way you will be sure to get everything hooked back up correctly.

also there have been different ways to actually pull the engine out. when i did mine i did it from the bottom. i had two jacks to jack the front end up to about 4 feet. used one jack to jack it up then set one on some blocks then jacked that one up and so on. but i could not get a cherry picker so that is what i did. also this way seemed pretty damn simple to do with the tranny still on the engine. and some say that getting a cherry picker is easy too. after all said and done it took me about a day for the whole thing. and i went slow to make sure i did it right the first time.

Re: Any Need To Knows on Pulling Engine?
Ive done it both ways, I like the picker cuz when I did it on the ground underneath all I had was a damn ford explorer oem crank jack and there is alot of manual lifting/steadying when you got only one shitty ass jack.

Re: Any Need To Knows on Pulling Engine?
oh, but the bottom was beter cuz I COULD NOT get that pin out of the linkage so it came out easy with the engine straight out from bottom, out the top the car has to ne HIGH otherwise the linkage ets jammed by the ground and the IFS crossmember.

I have made a cart out of 2x4's and plywood on casters before. This works great b/c you can lift the weight of the motor with the picker then let it down onto the cart. Then roll it out from under the car. Much easier than a jack lol. But be careful if you don't have a friend to help you out then get a strap and strap the motor to the cart so that it will not fall on you or fall off and damage something.

Re: Any Need To Knows on Pulling Engine?
well when I put it back in I did engine only first so it weighed less when getting it in there, then with side/rear mount snug I supprted the engine underneath with a flat block on the jack under the pan and layed on the valve cover and just reached down and hoisted up the tranny and to no suprise it took FOREVER to get that damn splined shaft into the disc, I used teh alignment tool so not sure why it took so long, probably just seemed longer since I had a transmission in my hands. and then next time it was pulled my buddy had just bought a brand new engine hoist w/ engin leveler
