93 Ford Taurus Anti-lock brakes

My car's brakes started to rub on the way home and within the 10 miile trip the antilock brake light came on. I stopped and went into a store and when I returned to my car 15 minutes later, something was running under the hood. I was not able to identify what exactly was running. When I started the car, the noise continued. When I put my foot on the brake pedal, the noise got louder and the brake pedal was fighting to be released, it was jumping back in a vibrating way. I was able to get the car home, and the running noise under the hood continued until the battery went dead. The noise sounded almost like the fan running, but was not the fan. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thank you!!!!

i have a Taurus and my anti-lock brakes were randomly going on I had to remove the fuse that controlled the anti-lock brakes. You won't have anti-lock brakes anymore, but it fixed my problem and saved me a lot of money repairing the whole system. your brakes will work without the fuse, just as if your car never had anti-lock brakes.
