88 mr2 clutch problem HELP!
i bought an mr2 a couple weeks ago and have been working on it. i replaced the half shaft and fixed part of the metal radiator hoses that run under the car. i also replaced the alternator. i thought i was done and took it for a test drive and something was wrong. when i would shift it would just rev up till it hit like 5000 rpms in each gear and then it seemed like the tranny caught and it went. i drove it about a mile and went back. i turned it off and came back about five minutes later and there is absolutely no pressure from the clutch. the car did sit about a year or two before i bought it. one person said he thinks i need a new clutch or pressure plate. another said its just a slave cylinder. i dont know and i need some help. so if anyone knows why it did what it did and whats wrong id appreciate your input. thanks
